Тhe Bulgarian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (established in 1895) is an independent, non-governmental organization for assistance, promotion, representation and protection of the business interests of its members, which contributes to the development of international economic cooperation and provides assistance for the European and international integration of the Republic of Bulgaria. The activity of the Chamber is based on the principles of voluntary membership, autonomy and self-financing. BCCI seeks to establish straightforward and ethical relations among the business circles.
The Bulgarian Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the 28 Regional Chambers of Commerce and Industry are united in the Unified System of Bulgarian Chambers of Commerce and Industry which has about 50 000 members – traders, corporations, associations, etc.
BCCI is the only organisation in Bulgaria accredited by the International Chamber of Commerce World Chambers Federation to issue Certificates of Origin. Historically, the development and existence of the Arbitration Court in the system of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Bulgaria starts functioning in 1897. It is of high importance not only for the Bulgarian legal system, but for the Southeast European legal system as well. It is fundamental to the successful development of arbitration at a later stage and one of the most significant reasons for the current status of arbitration in Bulgaria in line with the international standards and practice.
